Established in 2008 and in partnership with Childline SA, Talitha Cumi is a registered

Place of Safety providing refuge, protection, and holistic care for vulnerable children. The programme primarily supports children from newborn to 10 years old who have experienced abandonment, neglect or abuse. At Talitha Cumi, every child is welcomed into a nurturing environment where healing, stability, and hope can begin again.

Our Approach

Talitha Cumi provides comprehensive care designed to support both immediate safety and long-term restoration. Our programme includes:

Safe residential care and protection
Trauma-informed care and emotional support
Early childhood development and education support
Medical care and wellness support
Family reunification services where possible
Foster care and adoption placement pathways

Through this holistic approach, we aim to restore dignity, rebuild trust and create opportunities for children to grow into stable and thriving futures.

Our Impact

Since opening its doors in 2008, Talitha Cumi has:

Provided refuge and care to 1,300+ vulnerable children
In 2025: 35 children were lovingly placed in foster care, 24 reunited with their families and 6 found their forever homes through adoption
Created a safe and nurturing environment where children can heal, learn and grow

Every child welcomed into Talitha Cumi receives more than shelter, they receive love, stability and the opportunity for a new beginning.

About our founder,
Ma Boshoff

Driven by deep compassion and a fierce love for the vulnerable, Ma Boshoff was moved to action after witnessing the heartbreaking realities many children face each day. Refusing to look away, she gave life to the vision of Talitha Cumi, a place where children could find safety, love, and hope again. Partnering with Childline to handle legal aspects, Ma Boshoff focused on creating homes where broken hearts could begin to heal. Ma Boshoff’s legacy is one of fierce faith, relentless kindness, and a heart that will always fight for every child to know they are chosen, cherished, and called by name.
